Helsinki Yachting Club is a network that brings together sailors and motor boaters, where less experienced people can learn from more seasoned ones. The purpose is to create an informal community network for individuals who wish to enjoy a yachting lifestyle, develop skills, and stay safe.
The following points describe the key aspects of the network.
The network consists of two groups: (1) learners, people who want to learn various aspects of sailing and boating, and (2) Trainer Skippers, people who provide services such as practical sailing events, background theory knowledge, and consulting.
All individuals in the network will benefit: Trainer Skippers will gain experience in organising training events, and aspiring sailors and boaters will receive engaging and versatile hands-on training.
The Trainer Skippers are independent operators. They determine the services to offer and are responsible for ensuring the safe and compliant implementation of the training events. For example, practical training events can be formal sailing courses or less formal experience-building trips.
The individuals in the network are internationally oriented, often with a base in Finland. The primary language of activities is English.
People within the network share similar ideas about learning new things, safe boating, respecting the sea environment, and having a good time together.
